In order to run the label design software, the program must be able to detect a hardware security key. This key must be attached to the parallel port (or USB port for USB keys) of one of the computers on the network, usually the server. If the security key is not detected, the program will run in Demo mode.
Network Setup Directions- A network key must be attached to LPT1 (or the USB port for USB keys) on the computer that will run the License Manager utility. A network key contains different programming than a single user key. Check the label to verify your key has "Network" printed on it.
- The License Manager utility must be running on the computer to which the key is attached. Place this utility in the Startup group so that it starts automatically when the server is started. This utility is installed automatically with the program.
- The program must be set to look for the network key. In the label design software, select Configuration from the Options menu and click on the Network tab. Ensure that the Network Key box is checked and you have specified the correct directory under Server Location.
- All client users need FULL Read, Write and Modify permissions to the \System\License\ directory in order to function properly.
- Check License Manager for the appropriate number of users, use the refresh button if needed.
- Refer to the LABELVIEW Quick Start Guide for printable directions.
Troubleshooting Tips for Network Versions- Program launches in Demo mode: The configuration is not set to look for the network key. Select Configuration from the Options menu and click on the Network tab. Ensure that the Network Key box is checked and you have specified the correct directory under Server Location. Shut down the program and restart.
- Error 5001 NN SERVER NOT FOUND: The program is not configured as a Network version. Select Configuration from the Options menu and click on the Network tab. Ensure that the Network Key box is checked and you have specified the correct directory under Server Location. Also be sure that all clients have full Read, Write and Modify permissions to the \System\License\ directory.
- Error 5032: NO MORE LICENSES AVAILABLE ON THIS NETWORK KEY RIGHT NOW: The program is having difficulty connecting to the License Manager. Make sure the License Manager is running. This error may occur on some computers and not on others. Also be sure that all clients have full Read, Write and Modify permissions to the \System\License\ directory.
- Check the network protocol stacks on the server and the PC. Both protocol stacks should be the same. Certain network cards may cause this error to occur. If you are having difficulty, better results may be achieved if you install NETBEUI as the default protocol for the network. Other installed protocols will not be affected.
If you still cannot resolve the error after trying the steps listed above, call your dealer or reseller, or contact our technical support department.
